Divining the Future, guide to use Pendulum to Predict Future part 3
Practice Makes Perfect
Like all the other predictive techniques, it takes practice to use the pendulum. Sadly, when you start you may get more wrong answers than right ones — you need to train yourself to use it properly. That’s especially true if you plan to use the pendulum as a predictive tool for other people. Although when using other techniques, such as cartomancy, you can refer to the text if you get stuck or forget what something means, you can’t do that in the same way with the ‘pendulum. The link between it and your subconscious instincts and intuitions is too direct for that, so you must strengthen this link before you can use it to give guidance, to other people. Otherwise, you may mistakenly give them the wrong information.
If you don’t have fun using your pendulum, it will stay in its box or will merely gather dust on a tabletop. So start practising with it, using any question that relies on ‘yes’ and `no’ answers. As well as asking your pendulum obvious questions to which there’s only one rational answer Os my left hand touching the fridge?’, ‘Am I standing on my head?’, ‘Is it Wednesday today?’), you can also consult it on more complex issues. One good test is to take a deck of ordinary playing cards and shuffle them, then hold the pendulum over the back of each one in turn and ask it if the card is red. Sort the cards into piles accordingly, then check the results. At first, you will probably make a complete hash of this, but keep practising. After a few tries, you’ll find that your results are improving significantly, especially if you treat the exercise more as an enjoyable game than an exam. For some reason, the harder you try with a pendulum, the less likely it is to co-operate.
A good exercise at this stage is to use the pendulum to sort objects. Take three identical envelopes and draw a big cross on the back of one, then shuffle them and place them face up on a table. Use your pendulum to find which carries the cross. Try the same thing with three identical boxes containing dice.
You can do this in one of two ways. The laborious process is to hold the pendulum over the first item, putting it in the search position and then seeing what response it gives you, before repeating the procedure with the second item, and so on. The quicker process, which is useful when you want to dowse a large area, is to hold the pendulum above all the items and see which way it swings. To do this, arrange the items roughly in a circle, hold the pendulum above them in the search position and watch its swing. It will probably start off with a wide ellipse (which means Tin getting close’) and go into a circle (meaning ‘Found it!’) when you hold it above the object you are dowsing for, before returning to an ellipse when you move it away.
Dowsing in this way takes practice, so try to do at least one exercise every day until you’re proficient. You can ask a willing helper to hide a specific object in a room, and then you can dowse for it by moving around the room and watching the swing of the pendulum turn from the search position into an ellipse to a circle, or whichever movements your pendulum adopts to show you its responses. You could also use the pendulum to see if there’s any money in your wallet.
Keep practising until your results start to beat the statistics and your answers are more often right than wrong. Don’t assume you will always be right – it unlikely. The pendulum isn’t a magic wand or an infallible way of getting at the truth; it is a means of tuning into your subconscious to discover answers that you didn’t know you knew. And sometimes, for any number of reasons, those answers may turn out to be wrong.
