Feng Shui in Positioning Home Office

Depending on its use, your home office should be either close to the front door or in a secluded area of your home. If you receive clients or customers, the best place for your office is close to the front door. Because a home-based business that receives clients and customers, or traffic, is yang by nature, it should be located in the most yang area of your home, namely, in a front room. Also, a home-based business that receives clients should be kept completely separate from the more private areas of your home. If your work requires quiet concentration—if you are a writer, artist, or researcher—your office should be in a secluded area of your home.

Your studio apartment

If you live and work in a studio apartment, keep your work and sleeping areas completely separate. While remembering that you should place your bed in the quietest and most secluded area of your studio, position your work area where it will not upset your sleep. In order of importance, the placement of your bed comes first and the placement of your desk comes second.

Place neither your bed nor your desk in direct line with your door. If clients come to your studio apartment, you will need to protect your sleeping area from all the random and chaotic energy they bring in. You can do this with quartz crystals.

Obtain four fairly large quartz crystals. They should be about as big as the palm of your hand and should be natural, not polished. Bring your crystals to a sink. Let the cold water run until it is as cold as possible. Now visualize a blue- white light over your head. See the light coming down through the top of your head to the center of your chest, then radiating out so that the light completely surrounds you. Take your four crystals and run the cold water over them, saying silently or out loud, three times, “I will all confusion to run out of these crystals, that they be purified and ready to serve my purpose.”

Once this is done, bring the crystals to your sleeping area. Put them on your bed. Stand quietly, and breathe calmly. Visualize the blue-white light emanating from your heart and entirely surrounding you. Take one of the crystals in your right hand if you are right-handed, or in your left hand if you are left-handed, and positively charge it. Breathe calmly and concentrate. With your mind, send the blue-white light through your hand into the crystal. Then visualize the light emanating like a flame from the crystal. See the crystal glow with the blue-white flame. Repeat this process with each of the remaining crystals.

When you have accomplished this, place the four crystals under your bed at its four corners and out of sight. If you sleep on a futon, place the crystals around the general area the futon takes up when unfolded.

Once you have properly placed your crystals on the floor, visualize a force field of blue-white light being formed around your sleeping area. Say to yourself, or out loud, “I will this force field to keep all negative energies away from my bed, and to let in only good, healing energies. And it is done.” You can repeat this practice every month. If you follow the phases of the moon, the best time to do this is at full moon, when the psychic energy is strongest.

Your One-Bedroom Apartment

If you live in a one-bedroom apartment, keep your work out of your bedroom. If you don’t want your work to overwhelm you, keep all your file cabinets, papers, desk, computer, and other materials associated with your work in the living room. Keep your work and entertaining areas in the living room completely separate. The more logically you organize the work, living, and sleeping areas of your home, the more confident you will feel about yourself and your work.
