Not much togetherness in this marriage. He is too hotheaded and imperious for the domesticated and sentimental Rat. 1. Venus: As per Pluto. Venus transits last for up to a month, but take note of those times when Venus is retrograde, because this can lengthen and intensify its effects.
2. Mercury: As per Pluto. Mercury’s transits last for a couple of weeks; however, watch out for retrograde times.
3. Chiron: This planetoid has an eccentric orbit, but it usually spends a couple of years in a sign. Its transits can therefore last for several months, especially when it turns retrograde and back again.
4. The nodes of the Moon: These take about a year or so to work through each sign, and their effect can last for a few months when aspecting a particularly sensitive spot.
5. The Moon: The Moon takes two and a half days to work through each sign, so its transits are very short lived. However a new Moon, a full Moon and especially an eclipse will have a powerful effect on anything that it aspects. An eclipse which conjuncts a subject’s Sun, Moon or ascendant is bound to be strongly felt.

The best way to interpret a chart is to do it logically. Find a routine that suits you and stick to it and, unless you are already an accomplished astrologer, keep things very simple. Use only the normal and very obvious planets and features on a chart and deal with only the major aspects. In time you will find a system that suits you, but, in case you really don’t know where to start, I shall show you mine.

First of all make up a natal chart and then work out a set of day-for-a-year progressions. Place the progressions around the natal chart (using a different coloured ink, if working by hand) and also make a separate list of them to refer to. Keep a notebook handy for your findings. Uranus

The orbit of Uranus is 84 years, but variations during that orbit can alter the time of the all-important half-return. Uranus is going through a speeding-up process at the moment, so those who are now approaching their forties will experience the half-return at the age of 39. Older subjects will have experienced this at 40, 41 or even 42. Uranus, the ‘breakout’ planet, brings issues of freedom and originality to the fore, so, if a subject has been living a very conventional life up to the time of the return, they may kick over the traces when it comes. Because the Moon moves so quickly, it traverses a whole decanate in just under a year, thus adding an interesting touch of spice to any lunar progression.

It is interesting to note that the first decanate of any sign is always sub-ruled by itself, so it is obviously at its most effective. Perhaps this is a necessity, because if it were not so the ingress of a planet into a new sign wouldn’t make as much of an impression. Neptune being the vague planet that it is, this is a hard one to analyse. You may feel as though your life is on a kind roller- coaster, with the chief victim being your own emotions. The past could come back to haunt you in some way and you may have to face up to some pretty awful memories or feelings that have been buried for years. You will become oversensitive and terribly vulnerable, and if you are daft enough to fall in love at this time it could turn out to be a painful experience. However, with Neptune it is your unconscious and your dream life rather than anything really practical that is most likely to be attacked. This means that you may be able to live your life on the surface without making any real changes, while inside chaos reigns. Guard against deception in financial and business dealings and, if possible, leave any important decisions until well after this progression has passed.
